RV Shopping Part 2

We went to the Hershey PA RV Show.  It's supposed to be the largest RV show in the country, but I'm not so sure.  It's certainly the largest I've ever been to.

Laid out were acres of RVs and dealers all trying to get you to spend some money on their product.  We have settled on a Class C, but we made sure to step into a Class A bus that was well out of our price range to count how many TVs were in it and be amazed at the bad decor.

I had settled on a Class C Diesel, but a chap who was working with one of the vendors challenged that notion.  He indicated that he and his spouse were full timers and had been for a few years.  Then went on to talk to me about how the difference in gas mileage wasn't worth the increased price for diesel and that it had no real benefits.

When we look at prices, both for new or used, with very few exceptions a diesel unit is more expensive.  When you look at the miles you might be putting on a rig over the life of your ownership it might not be worth the increase.  But I can't shake the feeling that it will end up being worth it.

Putting aside the fuel type discussion for the time being we've pretty much settled on a floor plan, well, we've settled on what we want from one.  Now we just need to find a rig that has it, in a price we're willing to pay.  Easy right?

I've been prowling through RVTrader.com and comparing various models.  You'll see a deal pop up from time to time, but it's usually a little too far away (more than 200 miles) for us to just race out and check.  But it helps to see that they're out there, so I'm confident that when we do have the cash in hand we will be able to make a good deal.

The adventure to the RV show was exciting.  We didn't take the camper to stay the night, so instead got a hotel room nearby.  There were plenty of other folks there to attend, and I'm sure plenty of them bought during the show judging from the number of SOLD signs I saw in some of the rigs we looked at.

So for now the quest continues for the next camper.  In the meantime we're planning on rebuilding the sleeping area in our travel trailer.  The single Queen isn't really how we want to sleep so we're planning to tear it out and rebuild the space.  I hope there will be a post or two on that topic when we tackle that project.

Keep Camping...
